On 9 and 16 Dec. respectively, Clifford School saw its autumn
open-house days ending up in success thanks to the cares from
the school community, the parents, and the educational trade.
The guests witnessed quality classroom teaching and special
educational services.

Clifford Secondary School demonstrated 22 periods of open
classes by 20 Chinese teachers, and 10 periods of open classes
by 5 Western teachers, some on new contents teaching, some
on a particular study, some on laboratory experiments, and
some in discussion/debates, all in a heated atmosphere. The
teachers taught to the point, while the students were totally
absorbed, a teaching-learning cooperation that ended well.
The Dual-Diploma Program students, in addition, offered a
performance in English. Their standard pronunciation and fluent
expression touched the guests and parents, who gasped in admiration
of the performing students¡¯ overall English competency. The
picture show and the mini-invention show in the central yard
were also an attraction to many a parent. In the inquiry room,
the parents and guests pushed for an elaborate explanation
of the school¡¯s striking multicultural education, and, in
particular, of the on-going Sino-Canada (Manitoba) educational
cooperation which was approved of in 2003 by Department of
Education of Guangdong Province, and of how to enter famous
local and Western universities by graduating from Clifford
School, a heated question that day. The guests¡¯ attention
to the school served as a further inspiration for the school
on its distinctive and multicultural education.

The Elementary School¡¯s autumn open-house day began with a
Da Yangge (a rural folk dance) by G4 students. The G3 students¡¯
color flag performance formed another splendid spectacle,
flooding the whole school in joviality. From 10:00 to 11:30,
over 70 periods of Chinese and Western classes competed for
excellence, presenting a rich multi-cultural education ambience
and a tour of Chinese and Western culture classics: fairy-tale
drama, idiom channel, ancient poem maze, and science show
¡°Towering High¡±, all an attraction to the visiting parents
and guests; while the parents-children interactive games bought
one climax after another. The open-house day ended in complete
success.
It was a complete demonstration of Clifford Elementary School¡¯s
philosophy and achievements in teaching and education ¨C¨C¨C
the students lived and learned in health and entertainment,
in harmony and multiculturalism.
It was in the morning of 16 Dec that the Kindergarten and
the Full-Day English Program had their open-house day. The
crowds streaming through the gates on that beautiful sunny,
crisp Panyu morning was a sign that something special was
happening at Clifford School. And very special it was indeed!
In the Kindergarten parents and visitors could choose from
a wide range of activities to look at: teachers, both Western
and Chinese, teaching in their classrooms, demonstrating the
high quality of instruction for which this Provincial 5 Star
Kindergarten is widely regarded; children, and their families,
enjoying a variety of stimulating ¡®learning through play¡¯
activities, both indoor and outdoor.
On the other side of the campus, the International Program
students and teachers, from Grade 1 to Grade 12, were showing
off the many faces of the rich and rigorous Manitoba curriculum.
The quality of the students work across all areas of that
curriculum was quite remarkable and impressive to parents
and visitors alike. Those who were able to find a seat in
the Elementary Gym were then treated to a wonderful concert
performance from the International students featuring seasonal
Christmas songs and carols.
